Spurs will reportedly demand more than £30 million for Luka Vuskovic, who is “keen” to join Brighton in the summer transfer window.
The highly-rated defender spent last season on loan with Hamburg, where he started 27 Bundesliga matches and scored six goals.
The 19-year-old is currently with the Croatia national team as they prepare to face England at the FIFA World Cup in Arlington, Texas in the United States.
According to Sky Sports, Vuskovic would like to join Brighton, but Spurs are “unlikely” to accept the £30 million offer made by the Seagulls.
The report adds that “talks remain ongoing”, but if an agreement can be reached, then a deal is “expected to progress quickly” for Jan Paul Van Hecke to move in the other direction.
Roberto De Zerbi wants to sign the Dutch centre-back to bolster Tottenham Hotspur’s backline after the team conceded 57 goals in 38 Premier League matches last season.
Brighton have already rejected two approaches from Spurs for Van Hecke and their valuation of the Netherlands international is “expected to be in excess of £60m”.
Spurs have already signed Marcos Senesi on a free transfer from Bournemouth. The Argentine centre-back will compete with Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Kevin Danso for a starting spot.
Meanwhile, Tottenham are reportedly “close” to finalising a new contract with Pedro Porro, which would see the full-back extend his stay in north London by four years. Porro, whose current deal expires in 2028, has interest from other clubs, but is “ready to recommit” to Spurs under Roberto De Zerbi.
