St. Pauli have appointed Marcel Rapp as their new head coach after relegation from the Bundesliga. The club confirmed the move.
The former Holstein Kiel boss replaces Alexander Blessin, who was dismissed at the end of the 2025/26 campaign following the drop. Rapp has been out of work since leaving Kiel in February.
Sporting director Andreas Bornemann said the club were delighted to secure Rapp, praising his experience in Germany’s top level and his record in building teams and developing players. He added that St. Pauli must adjust again in the second division and that Rapp impressed in talks with his ideas, vision and drive.
Rapp called St. Pauli an exciting challenge and said he is eager to start pre-season immediately. He described the club as ambitious and said he wants to help shape the next steps at the Kollau training complex and at the Millerntor.
Already familiar with the ground and the supporters from visits with Kiel, he said he cannot wait to experience the atmosphere as the home coach.
