Head coach Dino Toppmöller on the upcoming game against Wolfsburg and Eintracht’s options in attack.
Following the defeat against Atalanta BC, Eintracht return to Bundesliga duties this weekend when they host VfL Wolfsburg at Deutsche Bank Park on Sunday evening (kick-off 17:30 CET).
Head coach Dino Toppmöller on ...
… how things stand: “On Sunday we’ve got a great opportunity to cement ourselves at the top end of the table. We want all three points. Our primary focus is on the Bundesliga, and we’re on the right track there. We knew that we might suffer the odd defeat in the Champions League. We have to move on – stand up, shake it off and look ahead. We’re on a five-game unbeaten in the league, and we’re determined to extend that.”
… VfL Wolfsburg: “I don’t think they’re just going to sit back. I’m expecting them to play with intensity and to get into the game that way.”
… team news: “Can Uzun and Hugo Larsson are still unavailable, and Jonny Burkardt is out too after the injury he picked up against Atalanta. On the flip side, Oscar Højlund is back and could pick up a few minutes. Elias Baum has recovered from his stomach illness and is also an option for the squad.”
… his options in attack: “We had to do without Jonny Burkardt against Hoffenheim too, but we played well in that game and got the win. We have plenty of options. We could play with two up front and two pacy players, or maybe with one up top who can hold the ball up well.”
… Elye Wahi: “The situation is the same for everyone – they have to gain confidence through their performances in training and with goals. That gives you a different sense of assurance going into games. You have to stick at it and keep pushing. He and others have already shown they’re capable of scoring goals, even if they haven’t done so for us yet this season. We don’t need to wrap anyone in cotton wool. Ultimately, it’s our job to demand things, and we do. The key is to get into the game through that bit of extra effort. Then the odd mistake will be forgiven.”
