Sacha Tavolieri has revealed that Standard Liege are hoping to bring Stoke City defender Eric Bocat back to the Pro League on deadline day in Belgium. Standard had been in discussions with Eduard Sobol but after these failed to reach an agreement they have turned their attention towards the Stoke City defender. Bocat only left Sint Truiden for Stoke City last summer and it may be difficult for Standard to make the transfer happen, especially considering that the transfer window is shut in England.
Bocat was one of the best performing left-backs in the league during his time in Belgium. At Sint Truiden, the underrated French left-back played 63 games, scoring twice and providing seven assists. During his first season with Stoke City, Bocat played 34 games and provided two assists. So far this season he has played in five games for the side.
Prior to England and Belgium, Bocat came through in French football and played for sides such as Dijon, Brest and Lille before joining the now defunct Royal Excel Mouscron in 2020.
