The situation surrounding Konrad Laimer is coming to a head at FC Bayern. The Munich club actually wanted to extend their contract with the top performer – but both sides are currently far apart in the contract poker. Now there are signs that the club is taking a clear stance
As early as mid-February, sporting director Max Eberl admitted that talks with Laimer had stalled. „We would like to extend our contract with Konny. There have been talks, but they are currently on hold,“ explained the 52-year-old at the time – and emphasized that this was done „without rancour and without malice“
But even weeks later, nothing has changed in the situation. According to consistent reports, there is still a clear difference of opinion. While Laimer is seeking a significant pay rise after his strong season as a regular on the right side of defence, Bayern bosses are unwilling to compromise
The crux of the problem lies in the financial area. Laimer is currently set to earn around eight to nine million euros a year. The Austrian is therefore demanding a total package of around 15 million euros, including bonus payments, for a new contract
A sum that is viewed critically at Säbener Straße. In comparison: top new signing Luis Díaz is expected to earn around 14 million euros, while Michael Olise is on around 13 million. Internally, FC Bayern does not want to push the salary structure any higher – and is sending out a clear signal here
Eberl put it diplomatically: „You have ideas, the others have ideas, and they have to fit together in some way. At the moment, they don’t.“

The record champions‘ stance seems to have become much tougher in the meantime. As reported by BILD, Bayern want to set an example in the Laimer case and not give in to the player’s demands
This has consequences: A sale next summer is considered a realistic scenario, and even a transfer-free departure in 2027 is apparently being considered internally if no agreement is reached
Laimer has developed into a key player under Vincent Kompany, impressing with his versatility, aggression and consistency. His market value has risen significantly this season and now stands at around 32 million euros
Nevertheless, the case shows once again that economic principles are becoming increasingly important at FC Bayern
One thing is certain: the contract poker surrounding Konrad Laimer is no longer just about an individual player, but also a clear signal for the club’s future policy.
