STOKIĆ'S BRACE AND KYVÅG, THE ROSSONERE BEAT SASSUOLO AWAY | OneFootball

The Rossonere's April has started in the best way possible. In Sassuolo, AC Milan won on the road for the second time in a row after victory in Biella against Juventus, closing the gap on the Bianconere in the race for Europe. A 3-0 win marked by Sara Stokić, who scored a brilliant brace at the same ground where she scored her first ever Serie A goal in February 2025. Thea Kyvåg added the finishing touch late on, scoring her second consecutive away goal. AC Milan move up to 28 points, and Easter Saturday fixtures pending, are in fourth place. 

Three well deserved points after one of the team's best performances of the season. The Rossonere started the game in the best way possible, creating chances while staying solid at the back against a resilient Sassuolo side, who in the reverse fixture came from behind after we had taken a two-goal lead. This result highlights the progress the team have made in 2026 so far, and the team is determined to have its say in the final stretch of the season. Now comes the international break. We will be back in action on Saturday 25, when the decisive run-in of the Serie A 2025/26 season begins with a direct clash against Napoli Women. Forza ragazze!

MATCH REPORT The Rossonere got off to a strong start as they pushed forward from the opening minutes and created a couple of promising chances. In the 7th minute, after winning the ball high up the pitch, Grimshaw had the first shot on goal but Benz made the save. De Sanders tried a header in the 15th minute, and moments later Missipo narrowly missed at the other end. After two attempts from Skupień, AC Milan stepped up and broke the deadlock in the 30th minute after chances for Arrigoni and Soffia. Stokić finished off a well-worked move and opened the scoring with our 350th goal in Serie A. For the remainder of the first half, the Neroverdi pushed forward but failed to create any clear-cut chances. 

A great start for the Rossonere again in the second half. In the 51st minute, Dompig had a big chance as she dribbled into the box but was denied by Benz's foot. Just six minutes later, Piga made a crucial clearance from close-range on Skupień. From the resulting corner, AC Milan were under a little pressure but managed to clear safely. Just after the hour mark, we double our lead. Arrigoni won a loose ball and set up Grimshaw, whose cross was met by Stokić for her second of the game. After conceding, Sassuolo responded by pushing higher up the pitch, and thanks to their substitutions came close to getting back into the game through Caiazzo on 68 minutes and Sabatino on 72. Afterwards, AC Milan took back control and sealed the win on the counter with a goal from Kyvåg to make it 3-0. What a win!
