Diego Moreira drove Strasbourg to a 2-1 win over Metz, his pace and directness tormenting the visitors as Sadibou Sané endured a tough evening.

L'Équipe notes this was Moreira’s best display of the season. Stationed on the right, he struck on 12 minutes from Julio Enciso’s first Ligue 1 assist, dribbled crisply and kept feeding dangerous balls, before making way for PAEZ at 90+3.

Enciso was central again, his hold infield and pass to Guéla Doué on the right leading to Strasbourg’s second, Godo heading in on 43 minutes. He featured in most first-half attacks, but overcarried after the break and saw a 54th-minute one-on-one saved by Fischer, before AMO-AMEYAW replaced him on 80.

Back from the Africa Cup of Nations on Friday, Guéla Doué started and was tidy, registering 80 touches, losing only three of 10 duels and supplying the decisive cross for Godo. Ismaël Doukouré impressed with recovery speed and precise distribution, staying alert as late pressure mounted.

Metz struggled at the back. Sané’s positioning was suspect on both goals and his passing was rash. He was booked for a foul on Enciso in the 54th minute.

Fodé Ballo-Touré toiled against Moreira and Doué, attempted only 16 passes and made several fouls before ABUACHVILI came on at 72. Terry Yegbe did not sense Godo behind him for the second, complained he was not warned, was cautioned for a foul on Barco and his battle with Panichelli hurt him.
