Strasbourg will not trigger €10 million clause, Rafael Luís to return to Benfica | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, Strasbourg will not activate the €10 million purchase clause for Benfica loanee Rafael Luís. The 21-year-old midfielder will report back to Benfica at the start of next season.

The French club were not sufficiently convinced to proceed with a permanent deal, so his stay at the team currently eighth in Ligue 1 is effectively over.

Benfica's board have not taken a final decision on his future, keeping all options open for now.

Luís will be monitored closely during pre-season. He will have the chance to impress and try to convince José Mourinho he can join the first-team squad, in what is expected to be a demanding battle for places.

This season he has made 15 appearances for Strasbourg, nine in Ligue 1, five in the Conference League and one in the French Cup. Across 653 minutes he has not registered a goal or an assist. He is valued at four million euros.
