Although Atletico Madrid isn't having its best season in La Liga under Argentine coach Diego Simeone, when the Madrid derby arrived at Atletico Madrid's stadium, they delivered one of their best matches of the season and will most certainly be their best at the end of the season.

After a frantic first half between the two teams, one of La Liga's best players this season arrived in the second half. Julian Alvarez is enjoying the best period of his career with Rojiblancos, both in terms of performance and numbers, having won every possible title in his career with Manchester City and the Argentine national team.

The Argentine reached his peak in the second half, scoring a penalty kick caused by Turkish Arda Guler.

The Argentine didn't have to wait long when he dribbled on the edge of Real Madrid's penalty area and won a direct free kick from which he scored what will surely be the La Liga Goal of the Month award, beating Thibaut Courtois to make it 4-2, and the stadium erupted with fans wearing red and white.

The Argentine's two goals against Real Madrid and three against Rayo Vallecano take his tally to six this season, in addition to one assist, making him a direct contributor to seven goals for his team, Rojiblancos, in seven matches.
