Liverpool's next transfer could have become clearer with an exciting midfielder catching the eye.
Richard Hughes is expected to focus heavily on strengthening the midfield during the upcoming summer transfer window, as uncertainty grows around several key players.
Curtis Jones, in particular, could be heading toward an exit, with his contract entering its final year and no clear resolution yet in sight. His situation adds further pressure on the club to assess its midfield depth and long-term planning.
At the same time, questions remain over the futures of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. Both players are currently tied to contracts running until the end of the 2027/28 season.
However, their situations differ slightly. Szoboszlai appears to be making more progress in negotiations with the club, suggesting a willingness from both sides to reach an agreement.
In contrast, negotiations with Mac Allister have slowed down, creating some concern about his long-term future.
Interest from other top clubs is also complicating matters. Mac Allister has attracted attention from Manchester United and Real Madrid, while Szoboszlai is also believed to be on the radar of the Spanish giants.
With multiple midfield futures unresolved, this summer could prove pivotal in reshaping the squad.
And who could Liverpool sign? Anfield Watch understands that a player on the club's radar is Christ Inao Oulai.
He is not a name you will be familiar with, but he's going to be a name the entire world will know one day if he is able to fulfil his exciting potential.
The 19-year-old Ivorian plays for Trabzonspor and caught the eye in Ligue 2 last season as well, while playing there as a teenager.
He isn't the tallest but he has incredible energy and he covers a lot of ground. Oulai has this ability to be everywhere all at once that makes him perfectly suited to the high intensity football that Liverpool want to play.
He has been dictating games for Trabzonspor in Turkey's top flight, and has showcased brilliant composure on the ball.
Oulai is an excellent distributor of the ball, averaging 50 passes per 90 minutes in Turkey's Super Lig and completing 91.4% of his passes.
He doesn't just play it safe, he progresses the ball and averages 7.7 passes into the final third. On top of that, he can make forward runs as well, averaging 2.34 progressive runs per 90 minutes.
So, he's just a very forward thinking player when he's on the ball. And he's simply stupendous when he's without the ball as well.
Defensively, he is all action. He presses really high and loves to win the ball back in the opposition's half, averaging around 2.5 recoveries per 90 minutes in the opposition's half.
His style is kind of familiar to Naby Keita, and why Liverpool signed the Guinean from RB Leipzig. Although, with Oulai, there is no concerning injury track record to date.
But can he do it in England?
Well the answer is he can. Oulai played a friendly against South Korea in Milton Keynes on Saturday for his country Ivory Coat and put in a stunning performance on English soil.
The youngster came on with half an hour to go and helped his side to a 4-0 victory with 19/20 passes completed, including four into the final third and four recoveries made.
It's a performance that once again confirms he's ready to play at a higher level and ready to join Liverpool.
Now the Reds, simply just have to act to bring him in.
