Nick Woltemade moves to England
The attacking player is leaving VfB Stuttgart and moving to Newcastle United in England. He bids farewell to the Cannstatt club as a DFB Cup winner.
After exactly 425 days in the jersey with the red chest band, Nick Woltemade will open a new chapter in his career. The attacking player, who originally had a contract with the Cannstatt-based club until June 30, 2028, will join English Premier League side Newcastle United with immediate effect.
“After we had ruled out a transfer of Nick during the current transfer period for a long time, the circumstances changed so dramatically at short notice that, in the spirit of our overall responsibility for VfB Stuttgart – despite knowing Nick’s sporting value – we have now agreed to a sale. We thank Nick for the time we spent together and wish him all the best for his future career.”
Fabian Wohlgemuth , VfB Stuttgart’s Sporting Director, said:
“Nick has undergone truly exceptional development within our club’s sporting context over the past season. A development that has brought him and his achievements recognition across Europe. Regardless of the growing interest from other clubs, our primary goal has always been to pursue a shared sporting future with Nick. This is one of the reasons why we have taken a very clear stance from the outset and defined the conditions under which we would consider Nick’s sporting loss to be compensated. We have consistently remained true to this stance. With the offer from Newcastle United, these conditions have now been met. Considering what best serves VfB Stuttgart overall, we have approved Nick’s transfer.”
Nick Woltemade says in his farewell remarks:
“I felt at home at VfB from day one and will cherish my time in Stuttgart. Winning the DFB Cup was an incredible experience, one I’ll cherish forever. It was fantastic to wear the VfB jersey and play in front of these incredible fans. I wish VfB all the best for the future. Thank you, VfB!”
18 goals scored in 36 games
Nick Woltemade joined VfB Stuttgart on a free transfer from SV Werder Bremen in the summer of 2024. He made a total of 36 competitive appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals and providing three assists. The 23-year-old was Stuttgart’s top scorer in the DFB Cup in the 2024/2025 season with five goals and played a key role in helping him and his teammates win the domestic cup. At VfB Stuttgart, Woltemade also matured into a full international, making his Germany debut in June of this year.’
