Stuttgart confirm signing of Tim van der Leij | OneFootball

VfB Stuttgart have confirmed the signing of 20-year-old Dutch striker Tim van der Leij from RKC Waalwijk on a four-year contract, the club said in a statement.

Van der Leij scored 17 goals in 38 appearances for the Dutch second division side last season.

He called the move a fantastic step and a big opportunity, and said he is looking forward to playing for VfB.

He added that he has watched several of their matches and noticed the progress young players have been making in Stuttgart recently. He wants to develop step by step and is eager to meet his new team-mates soon and be successful with the club.

Sporting director Christian Gentner described him as a very talented striker with an exciting profile, pointing to his performances and goal return for Waalwijk last season. He said Stuttgart will support van der Leij in taking the next steps in his development and that the club look forward to their future together.
