Sunderland have been linked with Juventus midfielder Khéphren Thuram, yet that suggestion has been played down. Calciomercato reports Sunderland and Nottingham Forest asked for information, but Sky Sports indicates the Black Cats are not pursuing the France international and are not prioritising central midfield this summer.
The report valued Thuram at €35m to €40m, around £30.7m to £35.1m. A sale at that level was said to deliver €23m to €28m in capital gains, roughly £20.2m to £24.6m.
The broadcaster added the 25-year-old has three years left on his Juventus contract and that there has been no contact for the player.
That stance is striking given Granit Xhaka’s importance in midfield and the looming demands of European football under Régis Le Bris. Extra depth and cover around Xhaka would appear logical across a heavier schedule.
Juventus are also said to be chasing roughly €100m in capital gains by 30 June 2027. The report suggested Thuram has a stronger market than Teun Koopmeiners, with Nottingham Forest among Premier League clubs to have requested figures.
Whether those links reflect genuine intent, agent manoeuvring or market-making is unclear, but the midfield question at Sunderland is likely to persist through the window.
