In a recent report, Sunderland Echo mentioned that Sunderland could move in for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones this summer. It has been stated that the Black Cats could try to get a deal done for the English talent in this summer transfer window.

Jones’ Decent Season At Merseyside

Jones served as an important member of Liverpool’s squad last season when he put in a few eye-catching performances for them in the Premier League. The Liverpool-born midfield ace found the back of the net three times and secured three assists in 49 matches for the Merseyside club in the previous campaign across all competitions.

The 25-year-old is currently among the most talented midfielders in the Premier League. Hence, Sunderland would do well to lure him to the Stadium of Light this summer.

His current contract at Anfield will run out at the end of next season, which could open the door for the Black Cats to recruit him on the cheap later this year.

Should Sunderland Boss Regis Le Bris Snap Jones Up This Summer?

Jones usually puts in a tireless shift defensively and is a good passer of the ball. He generates a lot of power with his strikes at goal and can engineer some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.

The English midfielder added a few goals and assists to his game last season. Jones mainly functions as a box-to-box midfielder but can also serve as a defensive midfielder or as an attacking midfielder if needed. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Wearside club if they can find a way to get him on board this off-season.

Jones would inject more quality into Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris’ midfield department. He is more than capable of fighting for a regular starting spot at the Stadium of Light next season.

At 25, Jones has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a decent fit for Le Bris’ needs this summer. He will also help the Wearside outfit compete for a top-half finish in the Premier League over the next few years. With all things considered, Sunderland should consider snapping him up this summer.
