In a recent report, Turkish news outlet Konya’nin Sesi stated that Sunderland defender Arthur Masuaku is gathering interest from Turkey this summer. It has been mentioned that Konyaspor are showing interest in recruiting the Democratic Republic of Congo international from the Black Cats this off-season.

Masuaku’s Lackluster Loan Spell In France

Masuaku spent the second half of last season on loan at Lens where he struggled to earn regular playing time for them in Ligue 1. The 32-year-old took part in just six matches for the French club in the previous campaign across various competitions.

The Congolese talent is currently among the most experienced full-backs in the Premier League. Hence, it is no surprise that he is generating interest from Konyaspor this summer.

His current contract at the Stadium of Light will expire at the end of next season. Hence, Sunderland have no choice but to let him leave this off-season or else risk losing him on a free transfer in 2027.

Should Sunderland Boss Regis Le Bris Cash In On Masuaku This Summer?

Masuaku is a solid tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is a powerful runner with the ball.

However, the Democratic Republic of Congo international needs to add more goals and assists to his game. Masuaku is primarily a left-back but can also fill in as a left-sided wide player if told to do so by his manager. He has a wealth of experience in the Premier League but is currently surplus to requirements at Sunderland.

Masuaku won’t be guaranteed a regular first-team spot at the Stadium of Light if he decides to stay with the Black Cats beyond this summer. Hence, it is only fair to the player if Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris allows him to leave on a cut-price deal before the end of this transfer window.

At 32, Masuaku is past his prime and could struggle to find consistency at the highest level, so the Wearside outfit should focus on cashing in on him and using the money generated from his potential sale to strengthen other areas of their match-day squad this summer.
