Sunderland deny £17m Moussa Diaby links amid Inter and Leverkusen interest | OneFootball

Sunderland have dismissed talk of a £17 million move for Moussa Diaby amid interest from Inter Milan and Bayer Leverkusen.

Sunderland Echo understands the Black Cats were never in for the France international, and adds that Leverkusen and Inter have submitted proposals of about €20 million, roughly £17.1 million, to Al-Ittihad, with discussions ongoing and no agreement yet.

Earlier suggestions that a deal was finalised then collapsed over work-permit points have been dismissed.

Benfica are also believed to be monitoring developments.

Diaby joined Al-Ittihad from Aston Villa after one Premier League season, and a Leverkusen return would take him back to familiar ground.

Sunderland continue to explore right-sided attacking options, but Diaby is not part of their plans. Potential targets include Sporting CP winger Geny Catamo, Roma attacker Matías Soulé and Bayer Leverkusen prospect Ernest Poku as Florent Ghisolfi works through a shortlist.
