Sunderland have dismissed reports of talks over a £40million move for AS Monaco striker Folarin Balogun.
Sunderland Echo understands the club have firmly denied that any discussions have taken place after claims on Monday that talks had opened.
There are no active negotiations regarding Balogun. Régis Le Bris and the recruitment team continue to assess targets as they shape the squad for the new campaign.
Despite suggestions elsewhere of a significant transfer being explored, Balogun is not currently the subject of talks. The proposed fee would rank among the biggest in the club’s history, which sparked notable interest among supporters.
As things stand, there is no substance to suggestions Sunderland have entered talks over a £40million deal. The window can move quickly, and the club are expected to remain active before the deadline, particularly with European football ahead. They have already shown a willingness to invest when the right player and price align.
