Sunderland ‘in talks’ for Matías Soulé with £30m price tag | OneFootball

Sunderland have reportedly held talks with Matías Soulé’s agent, with Roma waiting for an official offer. According to Romanews.eu, the 23-year-old’s representative has made concrete contacts in England with Sunderland and Fulham.

The two Premier League clubs would need to approach Roma sporting director Tony D’Amico with a proposal that matches the Italian side’s valuation. Roma are said to want a starting fee of €35 million, about £29.8 million.

Soulé is understood to want European football next season, which the report suggests could put Sunderland ahead of Fulham. Régis Le Bris’ side are set to play in the Europa League after finishing seventh in the Premier League last season.

Sunderland’s director of football, Florent Ghisolfi, knows Soulé from his time at Roma, offering a useful connection if the club choose to formalise their interest. The winger is expected to be among the most sought-after players on the summer market.

Even so, there is a clear gap between discussions with an agent and meeting Roma’s near-£30m demands. The next key step is whether Sunderland or Fulham submit an official bid during the window.
