Sunderland, Manchester United and West Ham ‘linked with’ £12m Leicester defender Ben Nelson | OneFootball

Sunderland are among several clubs monitoring Leicester City centre-back Ben Nelson, who is said to be valued at between £10m and £12m.

According to ExWHUEmployee, West Ham United are interested in the 22-year-old, with Manchester United, Sunderland and Torino also credited with an interest.

The centre-back came through Leicester’s academy, taking senior steps on loan at Rochdale and Doncaster Rovers, then Oxford United in the Championship.

His age, experience and scope to improve align with Sunderland’s recruitment model, which targets younger players who can develop and grow in value. Competition for his signature could make any deal difficult.

Sunderland are expected to assess several defensive options this summer as Régis Le Bris and the recruitment team seek to strengthen. For now, Nelson appears to be a player on the radar rather than the subject of advanced talks.

Any move would represent a significant outlay for the club, so the balance between immediate impact and long-term potential would be central to any decision.
