In a recent report, Ouest France claimed that Sunderland striker Eliezer Mayenda is gathering interest from France this summer. It has been mentioned that Stade Rennais have made progress to sign the Spanish forward from the Black Cats in this ongoing transfer window.
The 21-year-old managed to shine at times with his performances at the Wearside club in the previous campaign, but struggled to find consistency for them in the Premier League. Mayenda found the back of the net twice and earned one assist in 24 matches for Sunderland last season across various competitions.
The Spanish whizkid is currently one of the most gifted young forwards in the Premier League. Therefore, it is no wonder that Rennes are trying to sign him from the Black Cats this off-season.
His current contract at the Stadium of Light will expire in the summer of 2030. Hence, Sunderland are under no pressure to let him go in this transfer period.

Mayenda excels at finding some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can create the odd chance for his teammates to find the back of the net and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.
The Spanish attacker is primarily a centre-forward but can also fill in as a wide player on either flank if asked to do so. However, he is still inexperienced at the highest level and currently finds himself behind Brian Brobbey and Wilson Isidor in Sunderland’s pecking order.
Mayenda remains an important member of Regis Le Bris’ match-day squad. However, the Black Cats have got enough firepower in the final third and can afford to cut him loose in this transfer window.
At 21, Mayenda has got the potential to be a future star in English football. However, he needs to ensure regular first-team starts if he wants to improve as a striker. The Spaniard is surplus to requirements at the Stadium of Light right now. With all things considered, Le Bris should consider cashing in on Mayenda and using the money generated from his potential sale to strengthen other areas of his squad this summer.
