According to Sunderland Echo, Sunderland have had a £29.9m offer for Atalanta forward Charles De Ketelaere rejected, and are also keen on Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemović, who could cost up to £34.1m this summer.
De Ketelaere is at the World Cup with Belgium, with two goals and one assist in four matches so far.

He joined Atalanta in 2023, initially on loan from AC Milan before the switch was made permanent. A Club Brugge academy graduate, he has 32 goals and 31 assists in 142 appearances for Atalanta.
Bournemouth are said to be monitoring Muharemović, a Bosnia and Herzegovina international, with former club Juventus also said to be keeping tabs on his situation. Sunderland are said to be making a strong push for the 23-year-old.
The Black Cats have yet to add to their squad this summer.
