Sunderland could revive their interest in Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu this summer as the Foxes look to raise funds at the end of the season.

According to Football Insider, the Black Cats are ready to reignite their pursuit during the close-season, with the Ghana international understood to have a £30m release clause in his current deal.

It is claimed Leicester plan to reduce their wage bill and could be open to an agreement, with Fatawu among potential departures.

The winger is considered ready to step back into the Premier League and viewed as a stronger immediate option than Sunderland’s current wide players.

Sunderland could sanction an exit for Romaine Mundle if they succeed in bringing Fatawu to Wearside.

The speculation follows comments from new Leicester chief executive Kevin Davies, who acknowledged there is work to do on the club’s finances after relegation and missing promotion at the first attempt.
