In a recent report, journalist Fraser Fletcher stated that Sunderland were showing interest in Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara. It has been mentioned that the Black Cats would have to compete with Newcastle United, Liverpool and Chelsea in the race to sign the Senegalese talent this summer.

Camara’s Impressive Form In Ligue 1

Camara has enjoyed a decent run of form at the French club recently as he has produced a run of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The 22-year-old has featured in 25 matches for Monaco this season, securing four assists in the process across various competitions.

The Senegalese talent is currently among the best young midfielders in Ligue 1. Hence, Sunderland should focus on getting a deal done for him later this year.

His current contract at Monaco will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for the Black Cats to sign him on the cheap later this year.

Should Sunderland Boss Regis Le Bris Go Back For Camara?

Camara is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and is a good passer as well.

The Senegalese sensation is primarily a box-to-box midfielder, but can also serve as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if required. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Black Cats can get a deal done over the line for him in the upcoming transfer window.

We can expect Camara to bring more quality and depth to Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris’ midfield department. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Wearside club in the coming seasons.

At 22, Camara has got the potential to be a future star in English football as long as he continues to improve with each year. Therefore, it makes sense for Le Bris to go back for him at the end of this campaign as he would help the Black Cats compete across all fronts in the future.
