Sunderland will have a front-of-shirt sponsor for 2026-27 despite online rumours triggered by the sponsorless launch of their new home shirt.

According to Sunderland Echo, the club have indicated a commercial partner will be confirmed in due course, although the identity and announcement date remain unconfirmed.

The Black Cats unveiled their latest Hummel home kit on Tuesday without any front branding. The clean look was popular with fans, but its presentation prompted speculation they could play the season without a main sponsor, which will not be the case.

During the away kit launch, the club signalled that supporters who buy shirts before the announcement will be able to add the sponsor later. Practical details will follow once the partnership is formally unveiled.

Launching the kits without branding appears to reflect the timing of the agreement rather than a decision to stay sponsorless. The timeframe for the reveal is unclear and the company has not yet been named.
