Sunderland’s impressive Premier League return has come with plenty of bite, and a fair number of cards. They sit 11th after a 2-1 comeback at Newcastle United before the international break, with seven games left. Regis Le Bris’s side have conceded 36 goals in 31 matches.
According to Sunderland Echo, only five sides have collected more cards this season. Sunderland’s tally stands at 67, driven by 65 bookings and two dismissals.
Chelsea have received seven reds, with Bournemouth next on five.
Trai Hume leads Sunderland’s bookings with eight, followed by Noah Sadiki and Reinildo Mandava on seven, and Omar Alderete on six. Hume’s eight is the third-highest in the division, behind Brighton’s Lewis Dunk on 10.
Reinildo was the first Black Cats player dismissed in the league, 33 minutes into September’s 1-1 draw with Aston Villa. Luke O’Nien saw red six minutes after coming on, late in December’s 3-0 defeat at Manchester City.
Enzo Le Fee, Alderete and Reinildo have each committed 26 fouls, just ahead of Dan Ballard and Hume on 25.
