Sunderland arrived in Nashville to begin their US tour, with a double session on Thursday and Liverpool on Saturday. According to Sunderland Echo, a 26-man squad has travelled, throwing up notable injury and transfer pointers.

Jocelin Ta Bi remains on Wearside after a visa rejection, an appeal is under way in the hope he can still feature. If he misses out it would be a major setback, with no senior right winger available.

Wilson Isidor has linked up after World Cup duty with Haiti. Those knocked out in the round of 32 are due to rejoin after Liverpool, currently Simon Adingra and Arthur Masuaku, and both are expected to leave this summer, suggesting no deal is advanced yet.

As anticipated, Ahmed Abdullahi has not travelled as he closes in on a move to Eyüpspor. Aji Alese, who played 45 minutes at York City, has also stayed on Wearside, which would suggest his future lies elsewhere.

With Roefs, Sadiki and Brobbey unavailable until later in the trip, and Alderete and Talbi back for Lens next month, Le Bris will likely lean on youngsters against Liverpool. Even if Andoni Iraola’s side are not at full strength, it is a big chance for academy prospects.

Leo Hjelde has travelled despite a knee issue that ended his York outing, indicating it is not thought serious. Ben Kindon offers cover, while Dan Ballard and Romaine Mundle are on track to gain minutes during the tour.
