Sunderland arrived in Nashville to begin their US tour, with a double session on Thursday and Liverpool on Saturday. According to Sunderland Echo, a 26-man squad has travelled, throwing up notable injury and transfer pointers.

Jocelin Ta Bi remains on Wearside after a visa rejection, an appeal is under way in the hope he can still feature. If he misses out it would be a major setback, with no senior right winger available.

With Roefs, Sadiki and Brobbey unavailable until later in the trip, and Alderete and Talbi back for Lens next month, Le Bris will likely lean on youngsters against Liverpool. Even if Andoni Iraola’s side are not at full strength, it is a big chance for academy prospects.
