Reigning Serie A champions Inter Milan are bracing themselves for a frenetic start to the new calendar year.
According to FCInterNews, Simone Inzaghi’s team could contest up to ten matches in January.
Inter’s congested fixture schedule gets underway tomorrow with a high-stakes Supercoppa Italiana clash against Atalanta.
However, it’s only the beginning.
Considered warm favorites to reach the final, Inter will add another game to the list if they win in Riyadh.
Immediately after returning from Saudi Arabia, they’ll resume their Serie A duties.
Venezia, Bologna, and Empoli will challenge Inter’s title credentials in the domestic championship in only seven days.
Except for Bologna’s visit to Giuseppe Meazza, the Nerazzurri should take a hat-trick of wins to start things off in Serie A this year.
Indeed, they’ll be odds-on to beat relegation-threatened Venezia and Empoli.
The same goes for their last league game in January as they head to Stadio Via del Mare to meet perennial strugglers Lecce.
But those domestic outings sandwich a must-win UEFA Champions League encounter against Sparta Prague.
Indeed, a victory in the Czech Republic in the penultimate league-phase round would likely ensure automatic knockout qualification.
That would, in turn, relieve Inter of the pressure ahead of Monaco’s visit to Italy in the league-phase finale.
