An unofficial swap deal potentially now holds the key to whether Chelsea manage to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

This has been a right old transfer saga that has been going on far too long now and most Chelsea fans are sick and tired of it. Will Chelsea sign Simons or not? I think people are losing the will to care about the answer anymore!

Well, it could rest on Chelsea not only selling Christopher Nkunku, but selling him back to his former club Leipzig.

The Athletic reported this morning that last week RB Leipzig stepped up talks about a permanent deal for Nkunku. That could hold the key to whether Xavi Simons’ proposed Chelsea switch occurs. If Nkunku does not move to Leipzig, it could prove detrimental to Simons joining Chelsea.

Suddenly there is not as much confidence

Despite many reporters hyping this move up all summer, it now looks like it may not actually happen. Of course, it can still happen and it might, but this is the first time where some serious shade has been thrown over it by a reliable reporter!
