END OF EXTRA-TIME: SWITZERLAND 0-0 COLOMBIA

And with that, we're headed to penalties... Stay tuned!

Massive chance for Jaminton Campaz, but the Colombian can't keep his shot on target.

We've reached the halfway point of extra-time with both sides starting to create dangerous opportunities...

Huge diving save from Camilo Vargas to deny Zeki Amdouni. It remains 0-0!

An awkward save from Gregor Kobel as Jaminton Campaz's long-range effort dips wildly.

OFF THE CROSSBAR

Colombia's Jhon Lucumí nearly finds the back of the net, but his header comes careening off the crossbar.

The first five minutes of extra-time have looked just as tense and cagey as the prior 90. Both sides are going to need an attacking spark if they want to avoid a penalty shootout.

End of Regulation: Switzerland 0-0 Colombia

Goalless at the end of the 90 and extra time is coming up.

Five minutes of injury time coming up.

Luis Diaz whips a great ball into the box and Campas goes down under a challenge in the area. The referee waves the appeals away and no penalty is given.

A familiar face is taking in the action in Vancouver.

Ouch. Vargas comes for a looping ball into the Colombian box and clatters through Breel Embolo. That was a serious whack!

Into the final 20 minutes between Switzerland vs Colombia. Can either side find the breakthrough?

The hydration break arrives and we're still deadlocked.

CHANCE COLOMBIA

Luis Diaz swivels inside the are and forces Kobel into a low save.

CLOSE

Switzerland have started the second half on the front foot and Rieder curls a well-struck free-kick high into the side-netting. Some of the crowd thought that had snuck in!

PENALTY APPEAL

Munoz pulls Ndoye down inside the Colombian area. VAR have a quick look and decide no penalty; it would have been soft.

CHANCE SWITZERLAND

Ndoye pulls back to Djibril Sow inside the area, but the midfielder slips inside the area and shoots high and wide. A good opening.

SECOND HALF

Back underway for the second half in Vancouver.

A game of few chances thus far.

HALF TIME: Switzerland 0-0 Colombia

Both sides had half-chances in the opening 45 minutes, but the score remains level.

Three minutes of injury time coming up. Will we see a late first-half opener?

Colombia have started to up the tempo and are probing inside Switzerland's half. Suárez has a shot blocked from the edge of the area before Puerta slices wide from the edge of the area.

Some seriously strong post-match words here from Egypt boss Hossam Hassan after his side lost 3-2 to Argentina in dramatic circumstances.

Another opening for Switzerland as Dan Ndoye shoots low from a tight angle. Yet again, Vargas saves to keep the score level.

CHANCE SWITZERLAND

Rieder pounces on a Daniel Munoz mistake and lashes towards goal. Vargas is equal to the effort and gets down quickly to save. First real opening for Switzerland.

And the action resumes

The first half hydration break arrives and Colombia have edged the opening stages.

BIG SAVE!

Colombia display some excellent passing skill and work the ball to Gustavo Puerta, whose curling shot is tipped round the post by Kobel.

CHANCE COLOMBIA

James Rodriguez whips in a dangerous free-kick and Lucumí rises highest to header on target, but Kobel claims.

Pretty cagey in the opening 10 minutes as these two sides figure each other out.

KICK OFF

The 2026 World Cup's final round of 16 game begins.

The teams are heading out in Vancouver and we're moments away from kick-off.

Just 15 minutes to go until Switzerland vs Colombia gets underway. Who will come out on top in this clash?

Is this the battle of the World Cup's dark horses?

James Rodríguez makes history this evening, making the most World Cup starts ever for Colombia.

Argentina had just a 0.6% chance of winning late in the Egypt game. One of the great World Cup turnarounds of all time.

Is the GOAT debate settled?

Up next, Switzerland and Colombia meet in Vancouver. Here are the line-ups ahead of that clash.

Switzerland: Kobel; Zakaria, Akanji, Elvedi, R. Rodríguez; Xhaka, Freuler, Jashari; Ndoye, Embolo, Rieder.

An eventful showing from the 39-year-old master.

The World Cup holders (just about) continue their title defence. Their reward for beating Egypt is a last eight tie against Switzerland or Colombia, who are in action later today.

FT: Argentina 3-2 Egypt

It all seemed rosy for Egypt with 20 minutes to play, but a late Argentinian rampage led Lionel Messi and co to the quarter finals.

It all kicked off...

The goal stood but Egypt certainly had a case for a foul in the build up. One of Egypt's staff was sent off. Goal stood and VAR didn't intervene.

Argentina 3-2 Egypt

GOAL! THERE IT IS!

This time Egypt are caught on the break and Enzo Fernández heads Argentina in front for the first time in this game. Absolute heartbreak for Egypt.

Argentina 3-2 Egypt

Into added time...

Seven additional minutes to be played at the end of the second half. Time for a winner?

Argentina 2-2 Egypt

A more welcomed record for Messi to break...

GOAL! THERE'S THE EQUALISER!

Just like that, Argentina are level. Two goals in four minutes and they're back on terms. A brilliant finish from Lionel Messi.

Argentina 2-2 Egypt

GOAL! THAT'S ONE BACK!

Is the comeback on? A cross into the box and Cristian Romero heads home. Goalkeeper got a hand to it but couldn't keep it out.

Argentina 1-2 Egypt

Into the side netting...

Hearts in mouths as Egypt close to a third. Trézéguet can only find the side netting.

Argentina 0-2 Egypt

Back underway...

Can Egypt hold on to their lead?

Hydration break...

Are we on the way to a historical result?

GOOAAAALLLLL!!!!! WOW WOW WOW!!!

A counter-attack from Egypt, lead by Mohamed Salah. It's crossed in by Haissem Hassan and Mostafa Ziko finds the net.

No denying that one!

Argentina 0-2 Egypt

The foul that denied Egypt a second.

Oh wow...

Egypt score a second and it's a sensational goal. Salah assist. But it's disallowed for a foul much earlier in the move. How unfortunate.

Argentina 0-1 Egypt

Argentina still struggling...

A free kick from Messi is punched away. They're yet to get going this half.

Argentina 0-1 Egypt

KICK OFF!

We're underway for the second half in Atlanta.

HT: Argentina 0-1 Egypt

WHAT A SAVE! AGAIN!

Julián Alvarez really should level things up from close range but Mostafa Shobeir makes another outstanding stop.

Argentina 0-1 Egypt

DENIED!

A free-kick from distance from Messi appears to be creeping in, but instead strikes the woodwork.

Argentina 0-1 Egypt

WHAT A SAVE!

A dangerous cross into the box and Alexis Mac Allister gets a head to it. His effort looks destined for the back of the net, but Egypt goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir makes a fantastic reactionary save.

Argentina 0-1 Egypt

Back underway...

Are we in for any more drama?

Pause in play...

The first hydration break of the game. A moment to catch our breath after a lively 10 or so minutes.

Argentina 0-1 Egypt

A moment to forget for Messi...

Messi takes...

AND IT'S SAVED!

Argentina 0-1 Egypt

PENALTY!

Opportunity for Argentina to strike back as Haissem Hassan loses concentration and commits a foul in the box. No doubt from the referee.

Argentina 0-1 Egypt

GOAAAL! EGYPT LEAD!

Egypt corner isn't dealt with by Argentina and in the second phase of play, a cross is delivered and headed into the net by Yasser Ibrahim.

Are we heading towards a shock result?

Argentina 0-1 Egypt

OFFSIDE!

Argentina close to opening the scoring as a ball across the face of goal from Rodrigo De Paul is struck wide by Enzo Fernández.

The flag is eventually raised for offside so it wouldn't have counted anyway.

Argentina 0-0 Egypt

Possible nerves?

Neither side are yet to really get going here. Quite a few misplaced passes from both sets of players in the opening stages.

Argentina 0-0 Egypt

Early scare for Argentina as Enzo Fernández takes a knock to the knee. He goes down momentarily but thankfully doesn't require treatment and is now back on his feet.

Argentina 0-0 Egypt

KICK OFF!

Argentina get things underway in Atlanta.

HERE WE GO!

The teams are out and kick-off is approaching.

Argentina fans in full voice!

We're gearing up for Argentina's clash with Egypt, but in Vancouver the atmosphere is already building ahead of Switzerland v Colombia.

Messi arrives!

Egypt lineup is now in!

Argentina team news is in!

To little surprise, Messi starts.
