Former Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi insists the Bianconeri need ‘just one person, Alessandro Del Piero.’

Tacchinardi and Del Piero spent many years at Juventus, winning several trophies, including one Champions League in 1996.

Juventus have had highs and lows this season. Earlier this week, they were eliminated from the Champions League knockout playoff, losing 4-3 on aggregate against PSV.

They remain in the race for the top four in Serie A, the club’s minimum target this season.

Tacchinardi believes Juventus should strengthen the club’s organisation by hiring their legend Del Piero.

“Who do these players turn to? It could be Motta, but I’ll tell you straight. The figure missing at Juve, someone who stands by the players, someone who defends the club, is just one person. His name is Alex Del Piero,” the former midfielder told IlBianconero.com.

“This club needs only one person. Alex Del Piero. Not Tacchinardi. I have nothing to do with it.

“One person. Charismatic, known worldwide, speaks 50 languages, and is loved by everyone. Do you think the players wouldn’t go talk to Alex? He’s the perfect figure. Just one,” the former midfielder continued.

“Why isn’t he there? I don’t think Alex is asking for the moon.”

Tacchinardi played for Juventus from 1994 to 2007, making 404 appearances and scoring 14 goals. A solid midfielder, he won five Serie A titles, one UEFA Champions League, one Intercontinental Cup, and four Coppa Italia titles.

Del Piero has the highest number of goals and appearances in Juventus’ history. He left the club in 2012 after winning the first Scudetto in the post-Calciopoli era.
