Liverpool travel to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League with plenty of talking points surrounding selection, fitness and momentum. With Arne Slot guiding the champions through another busy stretch, supporters are watching closely to see how the latest team news shapes Sunday’s 2pm GMT kick off.
Liverpool will be without Jeremie Frimpong for the visit to Nottingham Forest, though the defender is edging closer to a comeback after a muscle issue sustained in the Champions League clash with Qarabag. Slot confirmed the situation clearly during his press conference, saying: “Jeremie will not be involved this weekend yet. We hope he will be involved next week [against West Ham United] if things go as planned.”

There is more encouraging news elsewhere for Liverpool. Joe Gomez has stepped up his recovery and is now ready to start if required, having made substitute appearances against Sunderland and Brighton & Hove Albion. His return offers added flexibility across the back line as Slot balances domestic and European commitments.
Wataru Endo’s absence remains a significant blow in the current team news cycle. The midfielder was stretchered off during the win at the Stadium of Light and faces an extended spell out. Slot explained the situation bluntly: “No, Wata will be out for a long time, as I said earlier. We don’t know exactly how long, but long.” Conor Bradley, Alexander Isak and Giovanni Leoni also continue their rehabilitation programmes, leaving Liverpool with several enforced changes to manage.
Nottingham Forest approach the match with a fresh voice on the touchline. Vitor Pereira became the club’s fourth manager of the 2025,26 campaign last Sunday and has already overseen a strong Europa League result, guiding Forest to a 3-0 win away at Fenerbahce.
The Portuguese coach praised the collective effort after that victory, stating: “It was a win by the players, the quality of the players, and the support of the fans. It was not a manager win because I was only three days with them. I just asked them to express the quality and the talent that they have on the pitch, with a bit of organisation.”
Forest’s team news includes several injury concerns, with Willy Boly, Nicolo Savona, Matz Sels, John Victor and Chris Wood currently unavailable. Pereira must also manage a quick turnaround before facing Liverpool, acknowledging the physical demands ahead. He said: “We need to rest, because it is a very short time. But I believe with the energy of the supporters I think we can play consistently and fight for the three points. Tactically, [make] some corrections because we can improve and be consistent. I don’t want my team to play one way and then another. I want us to play Liverpool with the same tactical intention that we played Fenerbahce.”
