Robert Vilahamn has confirmed that three players will miss our Barclays Women’s Super League season opener against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.
Midfielder Shuang Wang picked up a small injury during our pre-season programme, failing to feature since our fixture with Southampton last month, and is set to be sidelined for the clash this weekend.
Summer signing Ella Morris will be forced to wait for her competitive debut for the Club as she will be unavailable after suffering a small knock in our friendly with Feyenoord, while defender Amy James-Turner will be sidelined as she follows concussion protocols
However, Robert is hopeful that Ella and Amy could be back available for next weekend’s trip to Aston Villa.
Speaking in pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon, he told the media: “Amy has suffered concussion, she will soon be back but will need a few more days before she can return to the pitch.
"Ella has picked up a small injury so she will not be available for this weekend, but hopefully be ready for next weekend. Shuang has a small injury as well.”
Kit Graham, as announced earlier this month, will be out for the season after suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL).
In positive news, Maite Oroz, who joined us on deadline day from Real Madrid, could be in contention to make her competitive debut for the Club alongside fellow summer signings Clare Hunt, Hayley Raso, Anna Csiki and Katelin Talbert.
