An update on the captaincy situation at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Thursday been forthcoming online.
This comes, for those who may have missed it, after reports emerged in Spain on Wednesday, assuring that Marc-André ter Stegen had been stripped of his armband.
Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the German’s medical report following a recent surgical procedure, it was claimed that Hansi Flick had made the definitive call to remove Ter Stegen as his squad’s captain.
Such reports, however, have since been denied elsewhere…
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, whilst Barca are indeed giving consideration to ousting their long-time no.1 from the club’s captaincy group, no official step towards as much has yet been taken.
Instead, the plan is to sit down for a meeting with Ter Stegen later today, the outcome of which will prove decisive in both the 33-year-old’s future, and status as dressing room leader.
