Grêmio are set to confirm Tetê from Panathinaikos, a move that covers departures and fits Luís Castro’s plan.
According to Globo.com, the 25-year-old academy graduate will mainly play on the right and suits fast, vertical transitions. He has been with Panathinaikos since 2024.
Castro prizes quick switches from defence to attack with few passes. Tetê presses high to regain the ball and can also operate behind the striker.
Under Castro at Shakhtar Donetsk between 2019 and 2021, he mostly featured on the right. He often sought the byline for crosses or link-ups, or attacked the box to finish.
Tetê’s arrival marks another attempt to fix Grêmio’s right flank. Previous additions Galdino, Iturbe, Pavon and Cristian Olivera did not convince.
Academy winger Alysson earned the role last season before a move to Aston Villa. He finished the year rotating with Pavon, who led the team with 11 assists.
Tetê is expected to sign a three-year deal with an option for one more. Grêmio have moved towards an agreement for José Enamorado of Junior de Barranquilla to add pace and intensity on the flank.
