An insight into the leading contenders to make the step up to the first-team setup at La Liga giants Barcelona following the impending departure of Iñigo Martínez has on Friday been provided.

This, of course, comes as Hansi Flick and co. are forced into something of a rethink when it comes to the club’s defensive core.

Iñigo, for his part, played a pivotal role at the heart of Barcelona’s backline last season.

The 34-year-old provided consistent excellence on and off the ball alike, as well as crucial leadership qualities in a young squad.

As per a report from Diario Sport, two up-and-coming left-footed centre-backs are now ready to push for a first-team berth in Catalunya’s capital:
