Football League World looks at which League One grounds are ranked the highest on TripAdvisor

Sheffield Wednesday were the first team in EFL history to be relegated in February, and with their position at the bottom of the Championship confirmed, too, all eyes are now firmly on League One.

The Owls will be relishing a fresh start in a division where they've finished second, fourth and third in their last three seasons.

And while it may not be that easy this time around, as a 15-point deduction to start the campaign looms over them, it'll see them head to some grounds where they synonymise themselves with winning football games, an action that has been unheard of this season in the Championship.

Some Wednesday fans will be looking forward to returning to some League One grounds, and also heading to some new ones that have jumped up into the third tier since the Owls were last promoted in 2023. Here are the eight highest-rated ones per Tripadvisor.

8 ? ? AESSEAL New York Stadium — Rotherham United (3.9/5)

There are quite a few Yorkshire derbies to sink your teeth into in League One, and if Rotherham United can climb out of the bottom four come the end of the campaign, Wednesday fans will definitely be looking forward to returning to the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Rated 3.9 stars on Tripadvisor based on 90 reviews, the Millers' modern ground offers "amazing views" and an "excellent experience," according to some happy customers.

This season, the majority of happy customers have been in the away end, as Matt Hamshaw's side have a bottom-six home record in League One this season.

Having won there in three of their last four visits, Wednesday will be hoping that the Millers can stay up, so they can go and increase that favourable record.

7 ? ? Oakwell - Barnsley (3.9/5)

We're sticking with the South Yorkshire derby potential. Both Rotherham and Barnsley rank the same based on the same number of reviews, so the Tykes are just ahead based on the likelihood that they'll remain in League One for next season.

"The stadium is an absolute classic," is the first comment you'll see on Tripadvisor, and with the ground being open since the 1800s, it truly is.

Wednesday have fond memories against Barnsley in League One, having beaten them in the play-off final to secure their return to the Championship back in 2023, and the two played out an entertaining 4-2 match-up the last time they met at Oakwell, which Barnsley won.

The two South Yorkshire giants would be one of the many heavyweight clashes in the third tier next season.

6 ? ? Valley Parade - Bradford City (3.9/5)

From an excitement perspective, Bradford City hosting Sheffield Wednesday in league action for the first time since the 2004/05 campaign would be one of the stories of the season. In a similar way to Rotherham, Wednesday will hope that the Bantams can stick around, so the two can meet next season.

Like their fellow Yorkshire counterparts, Bradford ranks at 3.9/5, with many commenting on the incredible atmosphere that's generated at Valley Parade, especially when Graham Alexander's side are doing well.

With Wednesday having some of the best, most loyal away fans in the Championship currently, considering their situation, there's no doubt that a matchup between these two sides would be one of the tastiest of the whole season.

5 ? ? Accu Stadium - Huddersfield Town (3.9/5)

I promise that this list isn't just filled with Yorkshire-based sides that have a 3.9 rating on Tripadvisor. In fact, this is the last of the four.

180 people have gone on to review their experiences at the Home of Northern Football, and the average rating would be a bit higher if not for some negative reviews of recent concerts, which took place at the ground last summer.

For football, though, Huddersfield Town has one of the best grounds in League One, although not a lot of away fans have gone home happy this season, with only a couple taking all three points away from the Accu Stadium.

As for Wednesday, they haven't had the best of luck here recently, either, but they'll be keen to change that next season.

4 ? ? The Select Car Leasing Stadium - Reading (4.0/5)

From Yorkshire derbies to a lengthy trip down to Berkshire, at least travelling fans leave Reading happy with the experience, hence their place in the top four on this list.

Wednesday and Reading haven't met in the third tier since the 1980s, but this matchup could be on the cards if the Royals remain just outside the play-offs this season, and Owls fans should look forward to the closeness that fans have to the ground and the top-class facilities.

It would mark Sheffield Wednesday's first trip to Reading since March 2021, and one where they'll hope to have a better result than the 3-0 defeat they suffered that day.

3 ? ? The Pirelli Stadium - Burton Albion (4.1/5)

Burton Albion's Pirelli Stadium is one of the smallest in League One, but the close nature and the tight away ends are what make it one of the best stadiums to visit in the third tier.

The Brewers' recent FA Cup matchup with Premier League side West Ham United had a few fans logging positive opinions on Tripadvisor, which has helped bump up an already solid rating average to one that has them third in the division.

For Wednesday fans, their handful of meetings with Burton have always provided entertainment. In their four third-tier meetings, there have been 20 goals scored!

If the Owls' 15-point deduction affects them, too, this matchup could be between two sides scrapping down at the bottom as well, which would make for a big spectacle between them.

2 ? ? The Brick Community Stadium - Wigan Athletic (4.1/5)

For certain clubs, a trip to Wigan Athletic is one that they look forward to, given the large away allocation behind one of the goals. It's one of the bigger away ends in League One, and can create some great memories if the result goes your way.

This, plus a great, hospitable service by the Latics, can make Wigan one of the best days out in the entire league, and one that Wednesday fans will be looking forward to, if Gary Caldwell can continue his good start back at the club and keep them in the league.

It's a real ding-dong affair when the two sides clash, too, with no draws occurring in the 14 match-ups. The Owls will be aiming to come out on the right side of victory next season.

1 ? ? Edgeley Park - Stockport County (4.2/5)

An old school ground that Sheffield Wednesday haven't visited since August 2005, the Owls fans will definitely be relishing a return to Edgeley Park if Stockport County remain in League One, especially given that it's the top-rated third-tier ground on Tripadvisor.

The new cover on the away end has helped stave off critics, too, as it allows them to enjoy the game without the fear of a downpour ruining their experience.

Their rapid rise from non-league to League One, too, means that the staff and the majority of their supporters still remember their roots, and aren't taking where they are now for granted, meaning that a visit from a club like Sheffield Wednesday will be one they'll look forward to.

Plus, with a 10-minute train ride to Manchester, it sets up a great away day from start to finish at one of the biggest cities in the country.
