The Athletic have confirmed reports that Barcelona are cooling their interest in Marcus Rashford as he approaches the final weeks of his loan spell.
The Catalan giants are reportedly already scouring the market for alternatives, while sources close to the Manchester United graduate have insisted that a final decision has yet to be made.

Even still, it isn’t looking good for Rashford’s hopes of staying at Camp Nou long-term.

Before he made the switch last summer on a season-long deal, it was public knowledge that Barcelona was his dream move, having accepted his time with United was over for the foreseeable future due to his falling out with Ruben Amorim.
Despite Rashford returning impressive numbers over in Spain, he seemingly hasn’t done enough for Blaugrana chiefs to consider his £26 million buy clause worthwhile.
Their minds have been swayed in recent weeks, when the 28-year-old was expected to stand up and make his mark in the absence of sidelined counterpart Raphinha.
Rashford did score in his last two La Liga appearances, with Barcelona now poised to win the title after establishing a nine-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid.
However, he failed to contribute in his last three outings in the Champions League, which saw Hansi Flick’s side exit the competition at the quarter-final stage following a 3-2 aggregate defeat to Atletico Madrid.
Reports have suggested Rashford would be open to playing for United, his boyhood club, again if need be, though it’s unlikely INEOS chiefs want that to be the case.
Instead, they’re already preparing to cash in on the homegrown star, whose transfer would generate pure profit ahead of a major summer overhaul in M16.
