If you’re using your banked transfers, playing an early wildcard or even using a tactical chip, we have some differentials in this article for you to consider!

What is an FPL Differential?

In Fantasy Premier League, a differential is a player with a low ownership percentage (under 10% of managers) who has the potential to score high points.

The idea is that, because so few people have them, any haul they get gives you a much bigger jump in rank compared to picking the highly owned “template” players.

They are your secret weapons, and we want to help you find them.

Ready? Let’s help you win your mini league with some differential picks!

Robin Roefs – £4.5m

Sunderland’s goalkeeper has excelled so far this season, keeping two clean sheets in his first four. The Dutchman is due a price rise and has prevented 1.8 goals in this campaign.

Roefs has a total of 27 points to his name in FPL (the second-highest for goalkeepers), returning in 3/4 of Sunderland’s season openers.

With a total ownership of just 1.7%, it might be time to jump on the Black Cats’ stopper as a bargain option!

Trevoh Chalobah – £5.1m

While possibly lacking in defensive depth, Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea have started Trevoh Chalobah so far this season, who has been a decent stalwart.

Chalobah already has 30 points this season, finding himself a warranted price rise in FPL.

One of the higher-owned differentials on the list at 8.5%, Chalobah could end up more commonly owned soon, but a game at woeful Manchester United could bring another happy defensive outing!

Moises Caicedo – £5.6m

From the top midfielders in FPL so far, Moises Caicedo sits in the top three.

Aiming for a few players with potential for DEFCON (defensive contribution) points looks like a good strategy, given Caicedo plays in a deeper position. With two goals and 29 FPL points, Caicedo could be an immense pickup for the price of £5.6m.

A total ownership of 8.8% sees Caicedo as the highest-owned differential on this list but is still slightly going under the radar as a pick!

Evanilson – £7.0m

Bournemouth have won all of their games since narrowly losing to Liverpool on the opening day, and Evanilson is the focal point of a dangerous, high-pressing outfit.

While much of the focus has been on Bournemouth’s midfield options, Evanilson is quietly becoming a key part of their attack. The Brazilian striker’s intelligent movement and ability to link play make him more than just a goalscorer, and his early-season returns suggest he could exceed expectations if the Cherries maintain their momentum. Still flying under the radar with single-digit ownership, he represents a low-risk, high-upside pick for managers willing to back Bournemouth’s attacking form.

The Brazilian has 16 points in the game so far, helped by 1 goal and 1 assist.

Owned by just 2.8% of FPL managers, Evanilson should be a player to jump on if you don’t have the funds for both Gyokeres and Haaland!

Alex Scott – £5.0m

Alex Scott has always been a promising player, and this season Andoni Iraola is starting the Guernsey boy in the Cherries’ midfield. Technical and effective, Scott already has a goal to his name.

Alex Scott is starting to justify his “Guernsey Grealish” tag at Bournemouth, finally adding end product to his technical ability. With injuries behind him and regular minutes in Andoni Iraola’s side, he could emerge as a real FPL differential if his form continues.

Similar in style to Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, Scott has the potential to earn DEFCON points. He has 16 points in total this season and will only grow into the campaign.

Owned by a fraction of FPL managers – 0.2% – Scott could be a really clever pickup!
