Alexander Isak, speaking to Sky Sports:

"It was a brilliant first half, the reaction after conceding was really good. We dropped a bit second half and conceded sloppy goals. I'm obviously happy to win the game."

On his penalty: "I already made my mind up I was going to go down the middle. It counts so it doesn't matter.

"The most important thing was to win. We want to win more comfortably, but it was a big win."

Lewis Miley:

"I'd describe it as a hectic game. We played really well in the first half and put ourselves under pressure in the second. I'm really glad we've got the win. We're pushing for Europe now."

On scoring: "It's a really proud moment for my boyhood club. It was such an important moment to score."

On Alexander Isak's penalty: "As soon as I saw the keeper stay I though "oh no, he's going to save it". It's ridiculous really. It's a privilege to play with a player like that. It's great to get tips off him.

"We were under pressure a bit and it was quite scrappy in the second half. But at least we got the win. We all want to be in the Champions League. That's where we want to get to as a team. It's a really big win and this is a step forward. We need to go on now and keep looking forward."

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live:

"I am trying to control my thoughts and stay positive. We have won the game and that is what we needed to do. I thought it was a great performance in the first half and we were everything we weren't at Manchester City. We didn't manage the game well but overall we are happy with the win.

"It was always a difficult game and when they took the early lead you know you have an big task. I thought we were great with the ball ad looked dynamic but then a couple of frailties showed in terms of defending set plays. When you win win and you have things to improve, that is a good start point. That's what I'll take away from today.

"We can reflect on that 45 minutes and there are things that we can do better. We pride ourselves on doing better and getting the details right."

On Alexander Isak reaching 50 Premier League goals: "It is huge and when he plays like he did in the first half he is massive for us. He showed his pace and the timing of the run was excellent. Big player."

Eddie Howe, speaking to Sky Sports:

"Great to win. You have to remember that at the end. Crazy game, but that's why we love it, I suppose.

"Two sides of us. The first half was excellent. A great response to going down. The second half was equally bad really. We struggled to get to grips with the momentum when it turned against us.

"At our best we're free-flowing, an attacking team, dynamic. You saw the best of us in the first half.

"My brain goes to the second half. We weren't perfect. The defending of set-plays and crosses into the box, we've usually been quite good at that over the years. On a snap reaction, that's what I'll say.

"A really good performance from Lewis [Miley]. He finished his goal really well. He can be really pleased, he's been developing really well.

"It's a feeling we have to remember. It feels like we lost the game, but we won the game and got points over Nottingham Forest."

Eddie Howe, speaking to Match of the Day:

How were you able to score four goals in 11 first-half minutes?: "I thought we played well all first half, conceded against the run of play, disappointed with the goal conceded but what a response. We played with intensity and fluidity and I was really pleased. The disappointing thing was we couldn't continue that in the second half."

What happened in the second half?: "I don't know whether it was because we were protecting the lead and that subconsciously affects our performance, but for me it's a case of watching it back and highlighting the areas we need to get better."
