Aston Villa have received a record fee after accepting a £117m offer for Morgan Rogers. Villa, however, are not the only club set to bank big money from Rogers' move to Chelsea, with former side Middlesbrough due another windfall.

Boro' are set to receive around £20m from Aston Villa after including a sell-on clause in the deal that took Rogers to Villa Park in 2023. Incredibly, the Championship side will have received around £30m for a player who cost just £1m and spent six months at the Riverside.

5. Hugo Ekitike – £13.8m to Paris Saint-Germain

Hugo Ekitike never quite hit his stride at Paris Saint-Germain, with a superstar cast of talent restricting his minutes.

The Frenchman flourished after leaving Paris for Eintracht Frankfurt, where 22 goals in 48 games earned him a £69m move to Liverpool, and PSG a healthy chunk of it.

4. Tino Livramento – £15m to Chelsea

Despite being named as Chelsea's academy player of the year for the 2020/21 season, Tino Livramento quit the club that summer to sign for Southampton.

The Saints paid just £5m for the right-back after his Chelsea contract talks stalled, before raking in a big profit when Livramento left for Newcastle in 2021. Around £15m of their £40m fee went to Chelsea.

Rennes received around £17m from Ousmane Dembele's move from Borussia Dortmund to Barcelona.

Dembele had spent just 12 months at Dortmund before Barcelona signed the winger for a fee that could £135.5m with add-ons, fresh from receiving a record-breaking sum for Neymar. Rennes recouped more from Dembele's sell-on clause than his initial sale.

2. Morgan Rogers - £20.3m to Middlesbrough

Morgan Rogers' move to Chelsea will see Middlesbrough bank around £20.3m. The midfielder's £117m transfer will make Rogers the most expensive British footballer of all time, and earn Middlesbrough a huge windfall.

The Championship side signed Rogers from Manchester City for just £1m, before selling him to Aston Villa six months later. Overall, Boro are set to make a profit of around £28m.

1. Moises Caicedo - £23m to Independiente Del Valle

Independiente De Valle hold the record for the largest sell-on fee received after earning around £23m from Moises Caicedo's transfer from Brighton to Chelsea.

The Ecuadorian side sold Caicedo to Brighton for £4.5m, but inserted a sell-on clause. When Caicedo moved to Chelsea in a British record deal in 2023, Independiente got a big windfall.
