Manchester City, once again, have a long list of players that have been selected for international duty for their respective nations across two weeks in March.

Pep Guardiola and his players will embark on their final competitive match before a fortnight-long pause of club duties this weekend, when Brighton & Hove Albion visit the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a Premier League contest.

Manchester City will then return from their respective national team duties with a match-up against Bournemouth on the south coast in the quarter-final stage of the FA Cup – the final chance for the club to pursue silverware this season.

There is plenty of competitive action on the horizon outside of Manchester City duties for Guardiola’s squad though, with various competitions being played out across the globe in the next two weeks.

In Europe, not only are there UEFA Nations League finals and promotion/relegation play-offs on the agenda, but also qualification ties for the 2026 FIFA World Cup hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Ahead of the start of the first international break of the new calendar year, here is a comprehensive round-up of the Manchester City players selected to feature for their respective national team this month!

This article is being updated as more international squads are announced. Stay tuned.

Switzerland will be without Manuel Akanji this month owing to the centre-back’s recovery from surgery on a recent injury, while the same applies to Nathan Ake – who is absent for the Netherlands having also undergone surgery on a foot issue.

John Stones remains sidelined and subsequently absent from Thomas Tuchel’s England squad and could see a total period on the sidelines upwards of 11 weeks, despite not undertaking surgery on his thigh injury.

Despite returning to individual training in the last few weeks and undergoing work on the ball at the City Football Academy following a serious knee injury last September, the March international break still comes far too early for Rodri and Spain.

The other injury-induced absentee concerns Norway, with Oscar Bobb being allowed further time to recover from an ankle problem sustained in training during the first weeks of February. The decision to exclude the forward follows conversations with Pep Guardiola and Norway.

Vitor Reis has not been selected for international duty with the Brazil senior squad, while Claudio Echeverri was named in a preliminary list with Argentina.

Scott Carson has retired from international football and as such is absent from the latest England squad, while the same applies to Ilkay Gundogan and his eligibility with Germany.
