According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds United’s strongest starting XI for the relegation run-in has been set out to tackle a goal drought and aid survival. Daniel Farke’s side have seven games left, 33 points from 31, four clear of the drop.
Leeds have failed to score in their last four league matches. An incorrect dismissal and a clear penalty not awarded have not helped, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin has not been as free-scoring as he once was.
That picture could change after the break, with Noah Okafor and Gabriel Gudmundsson set to return. With those options back, the proposed XI aims to reignite the attack and keep Leeds up.
GK Karl Darlow has steadied the ship since replacing Lucas Perri, producing excellent saves. He is more comfortable on the ball and appears to instil confidence in the defence.
CB Joe Rodon has played more Premier League minutes than any team-mate and is expected to continue. His athleticism helps when covering in behind or stepping into a recent hybrid right-back role.
CB Jaka Bijol is the combative pick and Leeds’ best box defender, having silenced leading forwards this season. He is also a major set-piece threat.
CB Pascal Struijk thrives on the front foot with two alongside and is central to playing out, as the only left-footed centre-back.
RWB Jayden Bogle is preferred to James Justin, who has been excellent all season, because Leeds need more width in attack right now. Bogle is more comfortable pushing high as Rodon shuffles wide.
