The United States international was initially shown a yellow card, but that decision was upgraded to a red after a VAR intervention, leaving Celtic to see out the latter stages of the match with ten men.

Speaking via Daily Record, Trusty said: “Without saying too much, I think everyone probably knows my opinion on it. I’ve seen some stuff online. The majority of the world probably has the same opinion as me on it. But the decision’s made. I can’t do anything about it. And that’s just where it is.

“My opinion and people’s opinions outside doesn’t really matter if they uphold it. So at the end of the day, I can’t do anything about it now, really.”

Trusty added: “I think if you slow anything down and then look at just that, not the bigger picture, it probably can look a certain way. It’s all opinion. That’s football.

“That’s just what it is. It doesn’t really matter if I say anything now. It’s not going to change anything except get more talking points or get me in trouble or do whatever. So at this point, there’s no point for me even to comment on it.”

Following the stoppage, referee Steven McLean was seen gesturing towards the right-hand side wide area before reaching for a yellow card, a sequence that appeared to reflect his assessment of the incident.

The initial decision indicated that the official believed Landry Kabore was moving away from the danger area, a factor that seemingly influenced why a dismissal was not shown at first.

“Yeah, that’s what I thought,” Trusty said. “I mean, obviously, fair enough, you get a yellow card. Usually, in a situation, they’re going to give you that, which is what it is.

“But it turned into more than that, and I was off the pitch. So again, there’s not much I can really say about it, or I should even say about it. I literally can’t do anything about it right now.”

The American will miss Celtic’s Scottish Premiership encounter against John McGlynn’s Falkirk side tomorrow in Glasgow’s East End. If Celtic can get through that match successfully we’ll have had a rested Trusty back for the trip to Pittodrie in midweek. With Celtic needing maximum points in these games a little squad rotation is certainly going to be necessary.
