Boca are mapping out a busy mid-year window, with a goalkeeper and a right-back among the priorities after Agustín Marchesín’s injury. According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the scale of recruitment could hinge on whether they stay in the Copa Libertadores or drop into the Sudamericana, and plans cover the Torneo Clausura and Copa Argentina.
Their final match of the campaign comes on Thursday 28 May at La Bombonera, the sixth round of the Libertadores group stage. The squad will then have more than a month off during the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Juan Román Riquelme will oversee the rebuild, with sporting director Marcelo Delgado handling market work. At right-back, Marcelo Weigandt and Juan Barinaga have lost their place to Malcom Braida, a left-sided player, who will finish the term there. The plan is to promote reserve defender Dylan Gorosito.
One option is Chilean Felipe Loyola, whose representatives are said to have been contacted to flag Boca’s interest. His natural role is in central midfield, but he has also played at right-back.
Given Carlos Palacios’s limited involvement through injury, the club could seek a player for his role. There is also talk of adding a winger if Changuito Zeballos leaves, with Sebastián Villa under consideration despite an ongoing legal case, and some suggesting Boca could move for him.
Several departures are possible. Milton Delgado, the squad’s most valued player, Exequiel Zeballos, Lautaro Di Lollo, Lautaro Blanco and others have drawn enquiries, and the board must choose whether to sell or keep them. For Zeballos, a renewal has been proposed on a contract expiring at year’s end, but no agreement has been reached.
