Olivia Holdt became the newest arrival at Hotspur Way as the midfielder joined us on Friday (3 January) after three seasons with FC Rosengard.
From impressing in her native country to making an impact in Sweden, we take a look at the Denmark international’s career to date…
Age: 23
Position: Midfielder
Nationality: Denmark
Previous clubs: Vildbjerg SF, VSK Aarhus, DBK Fortuna Hjorring and FC Rosengard.
National caps: Seven
Born and raised in Ikast, Denmark, Olivia began her footballing journey by playing in a boys team until the age of 15 before making the move to Danish side Vildbjerg SF in 2018, where she featured a number of times in her first seasons at senior level.
After roughly six months at the Club, the attack-minded midfielder then travelled to Risskov, Denmark, to join VSK Aarhus, where she signed her first professional contract and began making a name for herself.
In her two seasons with the Danish top flight side, she netted seven goals and registered three assists across 29 appearances in all competitions, helping them to finish third and fifth during her two campaigns.
When asked about growing up in a boys team, she said: “I came from a small city, my dad was a coach for a team and my brother played for the club.
"So I started playing there when I was five years old, I would always go to training with them but I don’t how it came to me playing in the boys team. Everything was just set from there, I lived two minutes from the football pitch and I knew all the boys, so it was very natural for me to play with them."
Reflecting on her time in Denmark in the early years of her career, she added:“It was very good for me to stay in Denmark for a while, especially at that age and staying close to family which is very important to me. I learnt how to be around more senior players and, when I was ready to move abroad, I felt ready for that.”
In 2020, Olivia stayed in her native country and made the move to fellow Danish Women’s League side Fortuna Hjorring.
During her first campaign with the league champions, she produced a favourable return with 17 goal involvements (15 goals and two assists) in 23 appearances, helping them to finish third in the Championship round.
The midfielder also played a key part in their UEFA Women’s Champions League as she featured in all four games, with Fortuna Hjorring reaching the round of 16 in the competition.
And the exciting individual continued on that trajectory in her following campaign, this time with 14 goal involvements (11 goals and three assists) in 22 games as they finished second in the Championship round on this occasion.
Following two years with Fortuna Hjorring, Olivia signed for Swedish side FC Rosengard and, upon her first year away playing outside of Denmark, she made eight appearances in all competitions.
The next campaign saw her record her best goalscoring return in her career at that point, scoring 12 goals in 21 Damallsvenskan games, while she also found the back of the net in their Champions League run – her first-ever goal in the competition before adding a second with a fantastic strike against Barcelona at home.
The midfielder then backed it with another impressive goalscoring return last term, netting 13 goals and registering eight assists in 18 league appearances, helping them to win their 14th title while Olivia finished as the fourth-highest top goalscorer despite missing large parts of the second half of the season due to injury.
Having appeared regularly for Denmark youth sides, Olivia made her senior international debut in April, 2021, coming on as a substitute against the Republic of Ireland.
She was handed her first start for her country in April, 2022, and scored her first senior international goal in that game as Denmark secured a 2-0 win over Malta in a World Cup qualifier.
Olivia has since earned seven caps for her country to date and was regularly part of their matchday squad in the UEFA EURO 2025 qualifiers, with the nation securing a spot at this summer’s finals in Switzerland.
When asked about representing her country, she said: “It was crazy…it was a dream come true.
“I think everybody that plays football wants to represent their country and try to put the shirt on. It was like an out of body experience and it was something that I had been waiting a while for.”
