Mikel Arteta admits Bukayo Saka’s form has been impacted by the injury situation for his side this season.

Arteta has again been without several key players at times this season, including midfielder Martin Odegaard who remains a doubt for Saturday’s game against Everton.

And the Gunners boss believes inconsistency in his starting XI has impacted the 24-year-old, as well as his own recent battle with injuries in the past couple of seasons.

“Yes, we have changed that unit a lot, much more than in recent years,” Arteta said.

“The amount of games and minutes that he’s played now, I think it’s a bit more than already the whole of last season, so we just have to understand the demands that we are putting on players as well.

“That’s another thing that obviously when we talk about the beauty of the game and all these things, all these things affect certain things for sure.”
