Newcastle United recorded their first Premier League away victory this season, winning 4-1 at Everton on Saturday.

They opened the scoring inside 55 seconds, with Malick Thiaw rising the highest to head Lewis Miley’s corner past Jordan Pickford.

His strike was the earliest Premier League goal this season, surpassing Phil Foden, who netted after 59 seconds in Manchester City’s 3-2 win over Leeds United.

It was also the earliest goal conceded by Everton at home in a league game since August 2014.

Miley doubled the visitors’ advantage, powering his shot beyond Pickford, who should have done better to keep out his effort.

The English youngster is now the second-youngest Magpies player to score and assist in a Premier League game, after Charles N’Zogbia against Blackburn Rovers in September 2005.

Nick Woltemade gave Newcastle a three-goal cushion with a fantastic finish, lobbing the ball over Pickford to net his fifth Premier League goal.

Thiaw made it 4-0 with another header, becoming the first Newcastle player to score two headers in a league game since Georginio Wijnaldum against Norwich City in October 2015.

Thierno Barry thought he had reduced the deficit for the hosts, only for his effort to be ruled out for handball before Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall eventually pulled one back.

Newcastle are now 11th in the standings with 18 points, the same as Everton who have slipped to 14th.
