Real Madrid still have several players involved at the 2026 World Cup, with one of them being goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. The 34-year-old has played in all four of Belgium’s matches so far, and he will rack up his fifth appearance when they take on co-hosts USA in their round of 16 tie in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Courtois played an important role in Belgium’s 3-2 AET victory over Senegal earlier this week, and after that match, he spoke to DAZN (via MD) regarding a few of his Real Madrid teammates. He was asked about Marc Cucurella, whom he revealed has blanked him on social media.

“I’ve followed Cucurella now on Instagram but he hasn’t followed me back! But hey, he’s not in the WhatsApp group yet.”

Courtois: Mourinho can bring Mbappe and Vinicius together

Courtois, who also recently spoke on Jose Mourinho, was also asked about Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, who have been in spectacular form for France and Brazil respectively at the World Cup. The veteran goalkeeper is pleased to see them performing well in North America, and he hopes they can carry on that form when Real Madrid start their 2026-27 season next month.

“I’ve spoken to some others, with Kylian more, who is on fire, Vini too. They should continue to score their goals in the World Cup and I hope that later also in the new season with Real Madrid. They are two incredible players, when you see them at a level like this… I hope that with the new coach we can bring them together, that we do beautiful things and win titles because I think we have a great team so I hope we continue to win trophies.”

Real Madrid will generally be pleased with how their stars are getting on at the World Cup. Mbappe, Vinicius and Jude Bellingham are among those to have stood out, and they will certainly hope they can transfer this form into club football from next month onwards.
