Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois went off injured at half-time in the Champions League last-16 second leg at Manchester City on Tuesday, with Andriy Lunin coming on.
Lunin warmed up during the interval at Etihad Stadium and replaced the Belgian at the start of the second period. AS reports that Courtois felt discomfort in his right adductor, will undergo tests in Madrid, and is a doubt for Sunday’s La Liga derby against Atlético at 21:00.
It was Lunin’s fourth appearance of the season in all competitions. It was also his second in the Champions League, after the group-stage meeting with Olympiakos on 26 November, a 4-3 game.
Courtois had impressed in the first half, making four saves, notably denying Erling Haaland in the 23rd and 26th minutes.
Haaland eventually beat him on 41 minutes, with a slice of fortune. Courtois has been at Madrid since 2018.
