Thierry Henry has saluted Arsenal’s return to the top of the Premier League, expressing relief and joy. According to L'Équipe, he marked the triumph with a social media post on Wednesday.

Arsenal are assured of their 14th English crown after Manchester City drew 1-1 at Bournemouth on Tuesday night. The London side will finish champions 22 years after Arsène Wenger’s Invincibles completed an unbeaten league season in 2004.

His post showed him at home on a row of seats from Highbury, the old ground demolished in 2006 after the move to Emirates Stadium. He said that from Highbury to the Emirates, Arsenal fans could finally celebrate.

Henry, Arsenal’s record scorer with 228 goals in 377 games between 1999 and 2007, with a brief return in 2012, also thanked the current generation and said his children had finally seen the club lift a title. He now works as a CBS Sports pundit.

Mikel Arteta’s side visit Crystal Palace on Sunday at 17:00 for their final league match, when captain Martin Odegaard and his team-mates will lift the trophy. The north London club could complete a historic double if they win the Champions League final against PSG in Budapest on 30 May at 18:00.
